President Donald Trump has ruled the Twitterverse when it comes to idiotic tweeting and inadvertently calling out his own hypocrisy. Today, his own State Department jumped into the fray by tweeting about International Women’s Day and HIV. Beginning shortly after noon on Wednesday, the State Department wants the world to know their desperation:
As we celebrate #InternationalWomensDay tomorrow, we know that almost 1,000 young women will be newly infected with HIV on this day alone. @PEPFAR is committed to changing these statistics and empowering young women to write their own AIDS-free future. https://t.co/y0Tf7qa6nr

Whoever does the tweeting from the State Department probably should have stopped there, but they didn’t. Since assuming control of the White House, Trump’s team have decimated as many programs supporting women as they possibly could. The entire administration continues to display a total lack of empathy toward women.
The annual global report on human rights completely erased references to reproductive health care. While they predict the infection of thousands of women with HIV daily, they do everything in their power to remove programs that would have assisted these women. What a horrific way to celebrate International Women’s Day. From the Huffington Post:
His [Trump’s] 2019 budget proposal would cut $1.2 billion from global HIV programs like PEPFAR and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Trump’s expanded Global Gag Rule restricts an unprecedented $8.8 billion in U.S. foreign aid for international health programs that provide or even mention abortion.
The hypocrisy of attempting to say all the “right” things, while consistently pushing for policy decisions that go against their proclamations of support for women is overwhelming.
His [Trump’s] proposed cuts to the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases would slow HIV research efforts in the U.S. and impair its outreach to other counties.
More than 200 HIV clinicians, doctors, and scientists around the world have compiled an open letter outlining the hypocrisy of the Trump Administration. The group, led by Dr. Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, a Nobel Prize recipient, had this to say about Trump and his merry band of fools:
Science shows us that we can defeat HIV, but not if we defy evidence. President Trump’s misguided budget proposal, and his Administration’s attempts to scale up policies in defiance of evidence will only undermine the global AIDS response and should be stopped.
Throughout the day, the State Department Twitter account posted or retweeted almost 40 posts in support of International Women’s Day. Not one of them is supported or backed up by any policy decision within the Trump administration.
Hypocrisy on full display.
