Trump To McCabe: Ask Your Wife ‘How It Feels To Be A Loser’

There’s apparently no level that’s too low for President Donald Trump to stoop to when it comes to calling someone else a “loser.”

McCabe Is The Subject Of Trump’s Animosity

NBC News reports that just one day after firing FBI Director James Comey last year, an irate Trump called Andrew McCabe, then the FBI’s acting director. Trump demanded to know why Comey was allowed to fly from Los Angeles back to Washington on an FBI plane after his firing, according to sources familiar with the incident.

McCabe, who announced he is stepping down as FBI Deputy Director, effective Monday, told the president he wasn’t asked to authorize Comey’s flight, but if anyone had asked, he would have done so.

Trump was momentarily quiet but then turned nasty. It was at this point that he reportedly told him to ask his wife how it feels to be a loser — apparently referring to a failed 2015 run for state office in Virginia.

His reply:

“Okay, Sir.”

Trump, being the petulant whiner that he is, hung up the phone abruptly.

NBC’s story comes mere hours after the deputy director announced his plans to step down. He was already considering leaving next spring so his departure is considerably earlier than expected. But McCabe has been targeted frequently by Trump, and that has fueled tensions between the White House and the Justice Department that have now culminated in his intended departure.

NBC reporter Carol Lee, who reported on the story, had this to say to MSNBC after the story broke:

“Well, certainly McCabe was taken aback by this phone call. We spoke to several people who he had told about it. You know, I think what this illustrates is it’s just another kind of data point into what this was like for McCabe serving under President Trump.”

McCabe’s wife, Jill, ran as a Democrat and accepted nearly $500,000 in donations from a PAC linked to Hillary Clinton and former Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe, The Hill reports. Trump has repeatedly harped on the connection between Clinton and McCabe and has publicly called out the outgoing deputy director on Twitter. And it’s also reported that Trump asked McCabe who he voted for during the 2016 presidential election.

However, Trump said he doesn’t recall doing this.

“I don’t think I did. I don’t know what’s the big deal with that because I would ask you … who did you vote for?”

And while McCabe wasn’t involved in the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton while his wife was running, he did become involved in the probe in February 2016, NBC News reports.

The president took to Twitter last December to attack McCabe and his supposed connections to Clinton.

And he also tweeted this, right after the one above:

But Trump’s anxiety is showing here. He knows special counsel Robert Mueller is closing in on him regarding his alleged interference with the Russia investigation. And he doesn’t like it one bit.

So the Commander-in-Chief, supposed leader of the free world, is doing what he always does. Having a temper tantrum and acting like a child.

A child who has perhaps been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

The PBS/Newshour video below offers an in-depth look into McCabe’s abrupt departure.
